The ability to distinguish compensatory feeding behaviors from truly competent breastfeeding is one of the most critical — and frequently underdeveloped — skills in the IBCLC's clinical toolkit. This online course is designed to help IBCLCs build the foundational assessment skills and clinical confidence needed to identify when a breastfeeding infant is compensating, determine the underlying structural or functional causes, and make timely, appropriate interventions and referrals.
